As we all know, today is April Fools Day.  I’m torn about this day.  I don’t know if I like it or not.  I think it depends on the quality of the prank being done.  I couldn’t think of anything good to pull, so I didn’t pull anything today.

But I have seen and been the victim of really good practical jokes on this day.  I think we can all appreciate a really good practical joke.  So what makes it good?  I think if you are able to suck people in – I mean really suck them in – to the point where what is being talked about or joked about appears real.

My wife’s aunt pulled a great April Fools prank on us a few years back.  She’s a widow.  She came over one April 1st and what talking with us and playing with the kids.  We got talking about what we were going to do the rest of the day and she ever so casually mentioned that she had a date.  We were surprised, but excited for her.  We started asking questions – where did she meet him, what’s him name, what does he do, etc.  She had answer for everything.  She met him online.  He was a construction worker.  She had us.  She kept going.  She talked about how they had been talking about going away for a weekend.  Whoa!!!  We were a little concerned, she had just met this guy and they were now talking about going away for a weekend?  This wasn’t like our aunt.  She had us.  Then she mentioned that she was thinking that marriage might be in the picture.  WHOA!!  Hold the phone.  We ended up calling her daughters and talking with them.  She had given the same story to them too – they were had just as much as we were.  At the end of the day, she finally broke the new that we were the victims of an April Fools joke.  And boy was it a good one.

So my wish for you is that you either pull a good April Fools joke/prank on someone else or that you are “victim” to a really good one.  That’s the only way to celebrate on such a day.
