Today I’m going to focus on a couple of the neat monuments that are in one tiny little section of old town Porvoo. In fact they are quite near each other.

And it wouldn’t be Finland if they didn’t pay tribute to an artist…

Albert Edelfelt, Porvoo, FinlandThis is the bust of Albert Edelfelt, a Finnish painter born in Porvoo in 1854.  Finns are pretty good at valuing the arts.

It’s not just the official monuments and sculptures around town either.  All you have to do is look into some windows of the houses to find more of these beauties, like this…

Porvoo, FinlandThe bust on the left is actually facing the bust of Albert Edelfelt.  It’s like an eternal stare off.  I wonder who will win…
