Iceland is so unique. It’s really unlike anywhere else on earth. It’s got volcanoes. It’s got glaciers. It’s got geysers. It’s got waterfalls. It’s got beaches. It’s got snow. It’s got light and darkness like no where else.
It also has continental tectonic plates. More specifically, Iceland is one of the locations where the North American and European tectonic plates meet and where people can observe these plates very easily.
It’s incredible to be standing in between the plates. In a land of neither plate. That’s what Iceland has to offer.
These aren’t just stationary landmarks. They are active. They move. Earthquakes are quite common in Iceland. That’s to be expected when you have two major plates meeting in a location.
