Our next stop on the tour of the Cathedral of Learning was the Israel Heritage Room.
It felt like we were transported to Jerusalem.
But the bigger thing I want to know is this – why are there only two rooms that add the word “Heritage” into the title of the room? The Israel Heritage Room is one of these, and tomorrow you’ll discover the other one.
Hebrew is a neat language. I’m going to take Hebrew this Spring at the seminary – I’m looking forward to a time when I’ll be able to read what the image above actually says.
Going back to my question – maybe one answer has to do with the fact that religion is so intertwined with the history of the nation – preceding the nation a long time. Maybe, or maybe not.
Lesson for church – What’s your heritage church? What’s the history? What impact have you made? Why do you exist at all? These are some important and deep questions that every community of believers should take the time to explore. Often you aren’t going to get a nice easy answer either. And that’s ok. It’s not the answer that is important actually. It’s that you are asking the question. Keep asking questions.
