How we spend the money we possess displays to others what it is that we really believe, believe in, and what the core of our beliefs is based on.
How we spend the money we possess tells us and others far more than any statement of faith we supposedly ascribe to.
Scripture puts it this way – “For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.” (Matthew 6:21, NRSV)
In other words, how you spend your money reveals what your core beliefs are and what you value most. Dare I say that it also displays what we believe about God and our relationship with God?
This is true for us as individuals, families, organizations, congregations, businesses, and local, state, and the federal government.
If you want to know what someone truly believes, pay attention to what they spend money on and what they are not willing to spend money on.
Perfect verse to tie it all together.
I also think of Luke 21 and the widow’s giving in poverty required more faith than the rich man giving out of abundance. Money is a great realm where we see what we place our trust in. Great post!
