accommodations, horses, Iceland

Next to the area where the sheep are brought in to be separated is the area for the herders and the horses.  They enter this gate:

And then then they get to step into these four star accommodations:

That’s right, they found a natural shelter in the rock and made it into a space they could lay in to sleep under.  They also made a stone wall to help keep in some of the heat when it was cold, which Iceland has sometimes been known for I’m pretty sure.

Comfy, cozy, isn’t it?  I wonder when happy hour occurred at this fine establishment.

horses, Iceland

We made an unscheduled stop on our Golden Circle tour to see some Icelandic horses that were near the road.

These beautiful creatures, we were told, are very friendly with humans.  These two did not disappoint.

They came up to us as we approached, with a little hesitation, but then were friendly as could be.

We ever got to feed them a small treat of some long grass along the side of the road.

horses, peacock, Skansen, Sweden, tower

When you walk around Skansen, you see some neat things.  I’ve picked three to highlight today.

SkansenNeat thing #1 – there was this “competition” going on where these women dressed in white were riding horse hitting a piece of wood with a stick.  They were having a grand time and it made it fun for all of us watching.  The horses were beautiful too.

SkansenNeat thing #2 – Peacock.  Do I really need to say much more.  Peacocks are gorgeous and elegant looking.  As with many other locations that have peacocks, they are allowed to roam freely around the park.  They are not a danger to people, but rather draw our attention, even when they are attempting to hide.

SkansenNeat thing #3 – a tower.  I saw this and I thought, man, I’d love to have a tower some day.  I’d turn one floor into a library to house all of my books. LOL.  The only challenge would be that I wouldn’t want the tower to be too high though – I don’t like heights.

I believe that God, church, and theology are approachable, enjoyable, and relevant for everyone. I write about this a lot because people need to hear it. So many people feel lost, hopeless, alone, and are searching for identity and meaning. I'm an ELCA Pastor (Lutheran) who has a background in politics, business, and the non-profit worlds. I take churchy theological ideas and words and communicate them in everyday language that people can understand, in ways that relate, and show that God, church, and theology matter a great deal. Oh, and it doesn't have to be boring either - mostly because it's the best news ever!
