Iceland, sundial, Thingvellir

At the top of the hill at Thingvellir, up on the top of the crest of the continental plate sits a sundial.

I’m not sure why.  I just thought it was interesting.  Why on earth would you put a sundial at a location like this?  Why would you have a sundial in Iceland at all?  You have months of full daylight and months of full darkness.

I didn’t take the time to figure out how the sundial worked, but I was more amazed by the fact that it was there.

Maybe this is a good analogy for life – why do we do some of the things we do?  Why do we do things that make no sense?  Sometimes the only answer is – because we can.

I believe that God, church, and theology are approachable, enjoyable, and relevant for everyone. I write about this a lot because people need to hear it. So many people feel lost, hopeless, alone, and are searching for identity and meaning. I'm an ELCA Pastor (Lutheran) who has a background in politics, business, and the non-profit worlds. I take churchy theological ideas and words and communicate them in everyday language that people can understand, in ways that relate, and show that God, church, and theology matter a great deal. Oh, and it doesn't have to be boring either - mostly because it's the best news ever!
